After arranging yesterday's mortgage I've been slightly worried about someone showing me a better mortgage deal. I want to believe that I've made the right decision. I had emailed the mortgage advisor I'd been dealing with before the bank to give him the rates etc and find out whether he could beat it. He emailed me today to give me a similar, but not-as-good offer. Bear in mind that it's all done with email and he was replying to a mail I'd sent him with my name at the bottom. The mortgage advisor wrote something like this:
Impressed at his attention to detail - getting my name wrong and confirming my belief that people just make up the rates they tell you, rather than definitely find the best one at any given time, I wrote back in a similar vein:
Actually, I suggested that he get in touch when I start thinking about residential mortgages... you never know. He may pluck out of thin air a rate that I might like.
Being Kevin hasn't been a good thing today.
Dear lesley,
I can't beat your bank's offer, but here's a similar sounding offer. I will now suggest that the bank's interest rate may change and so my offer might look better.
Yours,
Kevin

Dear Keith,
I have already arranged my mortgage. Tough luck loser.
